In 2009 we began to use Open Source Software as much as possible in our design process. We love the results, and our bank account loves the fact that we aren't constantly spending money to upgrade programs. To start this year, we have decided it is now time to take our own site Open Source. We will be using ourselves as an example of how powerful a Content Management System can be for your company. ..any company.
So take a look at the site and watch as the modules and content grow. A partial list of Open Source products used so far would be: Joomla, FreeMind, YouTube, and Google Wave.
Let us know what you think, and feel free to suggest other software, modules, and extensions. If you don't know what these are, that's okay. In the upcoming weeks, we will explain that as well.
Received a Google Wave Invite?There has been much discussion lately on Google Wave, and what to do if you get an invitation to join. I have had calls and emails from people wondering if it was some kind of Spyware or Trojan horse masquerading behind the trusted Google name. . Below is the opening paragraph on a fine article written by Cynthia Graham of Suite101. Imagine an email client which allows the user to drag and drop attachments into it, and can also contain your Facebook and Twitter applications. Now imagine that any number of chosen people can jump into a conversation together at the same time. They can even reply to a specific portion of the conversation, while others are conversing in tandem, in another area of the page.
