This is a small list of frequent questions, you can read the entire page, or jump to a specific question below: How do I go about establishing a Website? Careful planning and close communication are key to developing an original, intelligent, affordable solution for every client. Therefore, before we publish a site, we gain a thorough understanding of each client's operation, your marketing goals and your budget for the project. We help obtain a domain, and guide in the choice of a web host. We use your existing materials (ads, articles, promotions, logos, artwork, photographs) to maintain a consistent branding image. We keep our client's budget in mind at all times, and invite clients to preview their site during construction and tailor the project along the way. Things to limit or avoid on your siteGoing Overboard with High Tech Some people delight in using the latest technology to the point of distraction. In our opinion the extreme overuse of Flash Intro movies is a prime example. The first time a visitor experiences these, they may be impressed. However, after a few more visits, the viewer will just be annoyed. It is best to stay away from these types of things. It is tempting to pick an ornate or decorative background style. A complex background may look striking or trendy, but it often does a poor job as a backing for text. It can confuse the eye. In this same theme, choose contrasting colors for the background and the text. If a light text color is used on a light background, it will be hard to read, as dark text on a dark background will be hard to read as well. It is a good idea to not have more than one or two elements that move constantly per page. Moving images have an overpowering effect on vision and distract the viewer from observing your content. In our opinion the most overused elements include blinking text and scrolling marquees. Pages should be user-friendly. An index or menu helps the web visitor find the desired information. To support simple navigation between the pages on a web site, a similar layout between all pages should be used. Changing background colors or patterns between pages can be confusing to the reader. Often the viewer may think they have inadvertently clicked on a link that took them off of your site. Many pages say nothing more than "This is my home page," with a collection of links that connect to the same collections of sites as the last page the web visitor just looked at. The real key is content. Before any site is created, it should have something to say. Your web site should be as unique as your company or organization. Always make sure a web site is current. Take the time and effort into keeping a site current, or hire somebody to maintain your site. No one wants to read outdated information or see broken links. Contact us today to see how we can help.
